Do you carry Chanel?

Chanel craze is back! Some walk-ins asked if we carry Chanel. We dont carry Chanel at the moment. I wondered who are the trendsetters in S'pore and why the sudden addiction over Chanel?
Chanel is certainly a very coveted brand that most ladies would want at least a piece or two in their bag inventories. Well for starter, it is an upmarket brand and therefore expensive.  An average bag from Chanel cost around $5k, for a pre-loved it is around $3500-$4500. And yes, it is worth it as they are known for their detailed craftsmanship but their brand precedes it. Secondly, the Chanel history is well-known. It started since COCO Chanel time. This lady worked her way up from a singer to a well known designer, creating style for woman in her time. Her designs are classy and make us believe that when we carry one it gives us certain prestige and class, of cos we wish we can rub off some of Coco's personality, perhaps give us a bit of err.. inspiration about life.

I did some research and there are at least 3 online shops that are selling Chanel ( secondhand or otherwise). Hauteave, Lux dream and Prestige Collector. However, a warning or my 2 cents worth is that when buying such an expensive item online, one has to be very careful who they are buying from, the condition of the bag and also if it is worth the risk if they happen to be a high end replica. If the savings are not substantial you may want to consider getting it in the boutique.

I am not advocating anything here, but just to ensure that we know where/how we part our hard earn money.

Nic in time

I m not about to stick my nose into the GE business and bore you with my views, but there is just something  I am compelled to air my views. Of cos,I am exercising some self control when it comes to airing my views in public and people know who I am.

I am extremely proud ( can't think of a better word) of the 24 year old, Nicole Seah, plucking her courage to step out of her comfort zone, emerging into the 'limelight' of politics, wanting to serve the country. She certainly looks sincere and credible, much more mature as compared to Ms Tin Tin. I am surprise, or more than that, that she, a 24 year old that has proved me wrong about people of such tender age is more than just girly giggles, makeup and muddle-headed. I am speechless! When I was 24 of age, I never think much about other people, except myself, lest going into politics.

I was apprehensive when NSP decided to get a tender grass to be part of the team. My jaw dropped when I read the news. But after reading about Ms Seah, I realised I was too quick to jump into conclusion. I know many better 27 years old than Tin Tin, who are more eligible, intelligent..etc. For someone who is 3 years younger, it is simply telling Tin Tin to stand aside. Is this the underlining message? Ms Seah has to continue to prove herself and not be too over confident and play her cards well. All the best for the GE, even though I know the chances of getting elected are slim, cos Marine Paraders will want their neighbourhood to look glam, in order to increase re-sale value for their HBD flat. These are the sad truth, nevertheless, I admire Ms Seah's courage.

Bag vs Mac delivery services

Last night I have to call McDelivery to bring us dinner, since I had some work to do and no time for proper dinner. When the delivery man called, I walked out to the guardhouse to collect the food. From a distance, I saw a man standing alone at the gate with a big bag. It looked a little strange, where was his trusty motorbike, I wondered.
It turned out that he was actually driving a black Mercedes Benz - to deliver my burgers! No wonder the security guard was suspicious haha... Guess you don't see that everyday :) The luxury aircon treatment didn't really help my fries though, they still turned out soggy.
We will certainly provide delivery services if you order a bag from our website and we will send it right to your door step, of cos, in this scenario, we will not be delivering your bags in a motorbike for sure!

I have to apologise that our website is not as updated as we would love to. We are trying to up our game to revamp the website soon. I am talking to some venders in the hope of getting a good price for it. Any recommendations for what should be in our website? Honestly, we paid a bomb for our current website and it turn out to be something less than my expectation to say the least. Well, give us a chance as we just started out. We believe we will improve in time and strive to bring you the latest bag at a reasonable price.

The Forgotten Gucci

I was updating our inventory and discovered that we have  a few reasonably priced Gucci that were forgotten. The Catherine tote bag is really understated. Strong fabric, well design that can last for ages and a simple squarish shape that can fit in at least five A4 size files or books. When I see it, it reminded me of one of my teacher from my school days as she always carry the same bag. It takes a baglover who knows her bag, like a wine connoisseur; to realise it is a Gucci. It is causal and no air about it and yet still add a bit of class as it is a Gucci afterall.

Next, we have the 2 classics pieces of GG running. Both are also excellent in terms of their construction. I believe these bags will last for a long time so it is certainly good news for those who are rough on their bags or heavy weight users. Both comes with shoulder straps and ease of use, either on the arm or shoulder. The existing strap is in fact long enough to go over your shoulder and you can free your arms to do something else. It is big enough to carry most things you need for a day out shopping or in office. 

The design is simply classic with GG monogramme and GG belt. Yes, for sure it will be easily recognisable from far. 

Do drop by and take a look and try it yourself. Some bags do need a second or third look in order for us to appreciate it's presence and quality. They aren't your usual Gucci out there.

Tin Tin's bag

I haven't had a good week thus far. I had to visit an endodontist to get a root canal done. It was a really painful ordeal and I don't want to describe the gruesome procedure here. I guessed I was eating too much B&J ice cream all night long for the past 3 weeks while working on my laptop. I have since polished up at least 4 tubs and still counting. Of cos, I am not able to consume any till after my next treatment. And not to mention, I also have an expanded waistline and a bulging tummy...blame it all on PMS! This is what B&J does to you...Root canal and tummy.

Since I was on MC, I decided to read the news to catch up with the latest juicy current affairs. I don't really bother with most news, only fashion news can wet my appetite and besides I dont really have that much time. However, I heard so much buzz about our youngest MP and I started reading about the GE. It was indeed quite entertaining. Then, I saw Ms Tin Pei Lin's picture where she posed with KATESPADE box!

My instant reaction was like, hey that's not a Hermes or a Prada!  I thought she should be able to afford something better than that. Hmm.... Anyway, Hermes or Prada or KS aside, why didnt she clean up her FB before becoming a public figure? She has invited a lot of criticisms and bad reviews not due to just only her age, but more so the photos she posted on her FB those reflect her character. There is nothing wrong being cute and childish as she is only 27! Is there anything she can do  to reverse our impression of her? She is now more of a liability then an asset, unless PAP want to give the opposition some face and let them win.

One thing I was tempted to do was to write to her to recommend  some of our handbags, to improve her overall looks, to become more serious and mature at least appearance wise. What about some Fendi?


I will reserve my other comments about her running as a MP. The netizen had said enough. Well I hope Ms Tin is reading the blog and we welcome her to visit thedeborahshop. Do the things that normal 27 year old gal would do.

Laughter is the best medicine

The greatest joy working in the shop is the personal relationships we've built with our customers. This same sentiment is shared among my colleagues, Eden, Adnan and Sarah, Is shopping a good form of therapy? I bet the conversation we carry in the shop is much more therapeutic. :)

We have this interesting regular customer, who never fail to pop in for 10 mins before collecting her son from classes, to have a chat . It's not about new arrivals or complaining about the bags she bought from us. It was merely a chat, like catching up the happenings of each other lives. Eden was on MC for a week and she enquired about his health. This got her started to share with us her funny encounter.
She went for her regular check up and her doctor advised against taking slimming pills as there is always some undesirable side-effects. So, she went home and instructed her maid"

" Ma-ri-a, throw away all the Avalon ( a brand of slimming pills) in the kitchen cabinet.
" Yes, madam

The maid was quick to response, took out all the Abalone and threw them away! It was fortunate that she went to the kitchen, to do some damage control and found the maid throwing away those expensive Abalone. We all burst out laughing so hard and so loud that the Poh Kim shop next door thought we were watching the comedy they were playing.....

Last month thedeborahshop presented a Prada Luggage Tag to Soon, our loyal blog follower as she had given the most comments/suggestions in our blog. We are grateful that so many people are reading it. The increasing number of viewers are certainly very encouraging. I will try to write whenever time permit.

A quick bag update

It's time of the year again to have a spring cleaning exercise in the shop. I was amazed when I stepped into the shop to see how clean and bright the shop has become. All the clutter were removed. We are now ready to welcome The Summer collection.  We are getting in more Fendi, Gucci and Prada. Just finger cross and hope the shipment arrives in time.

On going sales- 1-3 April

Pardon me for not updating the latest. This is because our entire shop on sale from 1-3 April 2011. It's such an adrenalin rush whenever a sale or an event was organised.  Baglovers started streaming in the morning and all the way to lunch time on a supposedly quiet Friday. Customers were glad with their 'steal' purchase. Some of our bags are going at $600, which is 70% off retail. That's indeed a special price and we want to boast about it. We are especially delighted when we see happy satisfied customers, and we would always tell them :
' Enjoy your bag and remember to bring it back for free polishing'

Today is yet another day. My day started at 5 a.m! I went for a run this morning and was feeling all hype up, full of energy, looking forward to start the day in the shop. And yes! we did it again. Another day of extreme excitment, punching numbers on the cash register and competiting among us who can sell more bags.
Even if we are not able to sell all our bags during this sale, at least people know our existence and will come back to visit us one day.

We've already begin to plan our next event. As time passes by, our event will be better than the last as we learned from previous experiences. It is such a joy to see all of us working together and encouraging each other
