I was surfing the net for ideas and went through some really impressive websites, blogs and Facebook pages. I wonder how can I ever reached that standard. It is almost perfect, with the designs and impression they created. I was embarrassed to say that our webpages are so amateurish even though we spent quite a lot of time trying to do it up. Can anyone recommend some help?
I am seriously not a tech savy person and a complete handicap when it has to do with computers. I can use Words, check emails and internet, that's it. I think I have develop a phobia of working on a website or creating a facebook page. To me, it is so complicated. I am not sure if there's anyone out there who is as afraid as me. In this business, I have to do marketing and to reach out to our customers using media of this form.
We just started so we hope to deserve a chance to make some mistakes. Thanks for your patience with us.
The Deborahshop is taking a break at the moment. Our online shop is no longer available. Thank you for your support.

Welcoming the new arrival- Fendi
Here are some of the Fendi collection in the shop, starting 1 Aug. Some are classics design such as the MIA series, and others are the new collection of simple shopping tote for everyday causal. Personally, I like the new collection design. We love the direction Fendi continues to take with their handbags, bringing back classics with bold colors and stylish finishes. Somehow the shopping tote bag looks slim, and it creates an illusion when I was carrying it- I looked taller and slimmer. It's subtle, no double FF monogramme all over.
The Mia series are popular. I don't particularly have a strong inclination towards monogrammed but when it comes to this Fendi Mia, I could easily fall in love with it. The shoulder straps are not shoulder- friendly, but somehow I love the way I looked when I am carrying it.
Somehow some bags are like fashion accessory, it does not have to play a bag all the time as in the functional sense! It just have to look good when it is on us and that's it!

Anyone going for a $20 Prada?
I chanced upon a page that read " 99 per cent off". On a closer look, it's a Prada shoulder bag for $20.50( no further details given), which is about 1 % the retail price. It must be a desperate call for such a sale. Below are some of my guesses for such desperate sales
1) for publicity- using cheap cheap sales, but nothing really worth getting.
2) It- is- ok -to- spend -$20 -on- a- mistake mentality. A lot of people will be lured to go and find that they wasted the time cos there is nothing to buy.
3) Clear stock- can't get rid of these bags anyway, $20 is better than $0.
4) Playing psychological games on consumers to see their reactions as a group-deindividuation ( People in a group tend to do stupider things as compared to an individual such as frantic buying)
5) A study on consumers patterns and laugh at how stupid we can be
6) To kill competitors in a wrong way
In my opinion, I don't think I will waste my time fighting for such bargains. I will be better off spending that $20 on food or drinks then to get an item that I will not even take a second look at it.
I dont think I will feel good carrying a $20 Prada bag!

We are in Facebook
We are finally connected in Facebook. We hope to bring updates to our customers and to let people know us better. How can we be selfish and not share the good deals we have in our shop with more people? We were hestitant to start at first as we were afraid that we may not have the time to manage the sales and social media. After much consideration, we decided to have a go at it, to be more connected to the outside world, to bring you all updates from our shop. We are waiting for our website to be up next.

Clearance Sales- we bag our bags
We are having our Spring/Summer -2011 Clearance Sales to make way for the Autumn/Winter collection. This sale is one of the best we ever done. We are giving 50% off second item. No one can resist this for sure. Within a day, all our Bottega wallets were snatched up, with this second item 50% off, it's certainly getting a bargain. We have 200 items in the shop and every single item is on sales. I've got myself a Alexander Wang bag at $1450; and a Celine Cabas at $725 ( which is 50% discount). Totally happy with my purchase. Staff has no further discount but we get to choose what we want during the first day of sales. This is a privilege working in the shop. Nan bought a PS1 for $2660 and a Marni for $550 only. Eden is still on holiday but he will be back tomorrow to bag his purchase.
The sales is on going and we are happy that everyone has got what they needed.
Comon down and check it out!

Personal Reflection
I'm sorry to bore you with my philisophy of life, my take and not writing anything about bags today. This blog has somewhat evolves into a personal diary, penning my thoughts and what I am doing. Of cos, it will be on bags most of the time as this is about the shop. However, I wish someone will also benefit from reading my personal reflection.
Life is short and I'm trying to grasp the meaning of it. My life is not a bed of roses, I struggle through every milestone ranging from a crying baby- I was a sick baby, to school going age- did quite badly in school, growing up pains- hanging out with boys at a young age, love and work life. Everyone go through different phases of growing up pains, I think I went through worse than most people I know.
I am inspired by a lot of things I see and learn. Each day I am learning how to be a better person. I am learning to cope with the challenges I face at work as well as my life in general. I am not complaining about what I dont have, or what I had. I am cruising along and trying to make full use of what I have, my time, work, friends and family. Thanks to all those who love me, my family, friends and the people who work hard in the shop. I appreciate all that was done for me.
There are no secrets in what I think that can make one successful. Let me share my thoughts, 9 principles, I hope to add another one in time to come.
1) You are never as good as you think you are. And not as bad as you think you are too.
2) Do something you enjoy, else you may not be as good at it.
3) Deliver the results in whatever you are doing. I try to my best when I do something, and make sure I do it well
4) Always learn from mistakes. I do make a lot of mistakes in my life and hope it is not too late to learn from it.
5) Be patient and stick around with good people and good things.
6) Build a team and share the credit. This is what I aspire to do with the people in the shop. We have a strong team, hope it will stay that way. The credits are shared among us who work hard. The most hardworking person get the most bacon.
7) To be fun to work with. I am trying to be sincere in my dealings, not forgetting the fun and laughter I can infect people around me.
8) Dont take yourself too seriously. I am constantly learning to laugh at myself.
9) Never, ever compromise your integrity
10) ......
I have long ago stop trying to be that perfect person I want to be. To be the perfect wife, girlfriend, worker..etc. I dont want to look back with regrets that I could have done it better, I could have worked harder- the I could have.....I have a biggest regret in my life, that is to give up someone I love for earthly pleasures, to travel the world and not appreciate what I have till he is gone forever. I know I will never ever get him to love me again. That's life and I have chose to move on.

Riding as a pillion
I spent the weekend here in Bologna and it was a blast! I went out with a bunch of Italian friends who work in the fashion related field. They are all good looking, tall and tan, fashionably clad in designer wear from head to toe.
Anyway, Mario came with his 1000 cc motorcycle and asked me to hop on, as if I was an experienced rider. Yes, I wanted the wind in my hair but not expecting this. I stayed in a cottage down on the countryside and the beach was about 15 mins away if you drive sanely. Mario was going 150 km/h on his bike and we reached our destination within 5 mins. I felt I have gone for a face lift. The draft on a bike travelled at 150km/h is probably an equivalent or close to a face lift treatment in time to come. No intrusion or down time. Perhaps some smart scientists can come out with a wind tunnel machine just fit for a face; stick your head in and Bravo! instant face lift in 5 mins.
I was concern with our safety of cos as the road were sandy and winding. I held onto him as he accelerated into the wind, slowed down upon reaching dangerous curves and sped up again. When we reached the destination, I could feel the adrenaline still pumping and my legs were wobbly like jellies. I managed to tell him, yes it was good fun. I remembered my last trip. He picked me up from Rome Airport in his BMW and sped all the way at about 200 km/h if not more. The result was not astounding, 8 tickets= 45 points, 4000 Euro within a day. He had to beg and borrow points from his friends and paid the fine.
I do not condone dangerous driving and not taking responsibility of one's life. I hope I will be able to hold on to this philosophy of life- our life belong to God alone and we should live life according to His purpose.

In Italy
I didnt know what I was talking about- away from the hustle and bustle- till I reached Italy-Bologna. I am staying in this fabulous country side hotel, facing the vast fields, looking into the horizon where the sky and the land meets. The lands are filled with sunflowers, creating this unison pattern in the direction of the sun. It's such a wonderful sight to behold and wish I can be here longer.
The hotel/cottage is really awesome. My room comes with a kitchenet, a fire place ( nope not using it as it is summer), plush bed and pillows, big and clean bathroom, absolutely silence, except the birds chirping and an ocassion sound coming from my iphone. I m in paradiseby myself, feeling the least bit lonely, though I do miss home, and wish someone I love is here with me. Tranquility,no distractions from the world. Being connected to the world via internet is more than what I need. No screaming kids and noises from the traffic. Last night, was the only night I slept soundly like a baby. I was in Paris the whole of last week, staying in the mist of confusion with traffic and people talking. I hardly had any rest.

Away from Home and some news
Greetings from Paris, the city of Love/Romance. I am not here to find romance nor am I with someone special. I am here to get away from the hustle & bustle. I need to spend some time on my own and be by myself. I call this ‘Durian’ time. It is just a term I use for time like this.
I don’t intend to do any touristy stuff, no Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe or cruising down River Seine. I did all that stuff a few years back with someone I love very much, including learning the language. I don’t intend to reminisce the good old times I had before. So for now, I am focusing on my own, learning to be alone and not feel lonely.
I spent all my dinner time in McDonald, not because I like junk food, more due to the free wifi. You see, the place I am staying has NO wifi, I mean no internet. Basically it is just a charming house in an excellent location but I am not connected. It can be a good thing since I wanted to be alone. I am grateful that I have a shelter over my head and do as I pleased since I am here by myself.
I’ve no plans for the next few days….I am roaming here aimlessly. One thing for sure it’s to do some market survey for bags! That’ll keep me going.
Galleries Lafayette |
My Favourite Cafe for afternoon tea |
I visited Galleries Lafayette and Champs-Elysees. The Summer Sales are on going. The good news is some of the classic bags in store here are almost the same price as what we have in the shop. I can confidently tell you that our Bottega Venetta prices are excellently priced; i.e. it is cheaper to get from thedeborahshop than to fly here thinking you will get a better deal even after tax return. In fact, there is little if not no savings at all for other designers brands after the tax return. We re truly blessed to know that our bags are competitively priced even in Europe. You can check it out yourself if you dont believe.
Anyway, Dior prices had gone up. A Lady Dior cost Euro 2100 for a small one, it used to be Euro 1900 or half a year ago it was only Euro 1700. The sale lady in the Dior boutique told me it is a good investment.
I am going to source for Autum/Winter collection and will bring you the latest before the collection hit S'pore.
Stay tune.
