What a deal!!! $2.80 for a haircut ?

Last week, I was looking for a decent hair salon to get a trim, like an inch off my hair. The tips of my hair is usually fray and dry. I could not care less which salon I go to ( I am not the loyalty type as far as hair salon goes). I do not have a stringent list of criteria and am not exactly choosy but I do have some basic criteria... that is not too much to ask for

1) I don't like to wait especially if I am paying $40
2) I don't like to wait especially if I am paying more than $40 and had made an appointment
3) I don't require my hair to be washed or blow or scalp massaged
4) I don't want anyone to hard sell any items that is good for my hair or improve my looks
5) I want to get my money worth

Due to time constraint (I like to see it as time is not on my side rather being plain lazy), I often frequent the nearest hair salon in the mall where our shop is. They charge a reasonable price for a hair cut, wash and blow. Some salons here charge $200 for a haircut which puzzle me even till today. Maybe it is the scissors or the chair they seat in, I will not pay a hefty amount of $200 for a trim.
Then I found another shop which is 3 floors down. It is the $10 for a 10 minute hair cut.  It quickly became my favourite, no frill place to trim my hair though the wait can be a bit frustrating during weekends. They will inevitably take more than 10 mins. Somehow I was not very satisfied aftter each visit but I didn't complain much as it is only $10.

Recently, I went to Ang Mo Kio neighbourhood to see a doctor and chanced upon at least 10 hair salons within walking distance to each other. They were having a price war. One salon charged $15 for hair cut, another $10, another $5 for all length...etc. The lowest I saw was $2.80. I decided to try the $12 version service as it looked decent (no dark windows/glasses). The whole shop was full of chatters, jokes and laughter. The hairdresser, Mary must be quite popular.

After 20 minutes my hair was neatly trimmed, no duck tails. Perfecto! Only $12. Maybe I will convert to be a loyal client and no more wavering eyes to seek out other deals.  I am tempted to try the $2.80 shop. Should I? Anyone?
Gucci Sukey, $1200
What bag should you bring to the hair salon? I had the Gucci Sukey with me, big enough for a book( I am reading Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins) and my friend, Nato's ipad filled with tons of games. I didn't need it afterall as I was already entertained by Mary's old clients.

What will be your last bag of 2012 ?

will this be my last bag of 2012
I am guilty of it, ->overspending. Some of us have the tendency to spend all o

We are so caught up in the NEW YEAR, new things, new bargains and hence new everything, especially clothes, shoes and bags. And the result is that we have indeed overspent our shopping budget of the entire year even though it is only Feb!!!!

Well, if this is going to be your last bag of year 2012, don't miss out colours beside the essential black. Colours are not just black or brown, get bolder with tangerine or blue. These coloured bags should compliment the rest of your collection, wear them on different occasion and moods. Get a bag with texture, like wool, printed leather, fringe..etc. Bottega is known of it interlaced leather weaving and it adds an extra dimension. The Gucci 1973 design is a clean classic cut that will never go out off key. And the woolly Dolce, a lady bag that looks like it has some clothes on. It's fun.
What will be your last bag in 2012?
Enjoy the new things in life.

1921 Gucci Collection

1921 Collection, $2000 at thedeborahshop
The above is the 1921 collection to celebrate Gucci 90th anniversary. IT's ninety, all that history and experiences behind the brand, GUCCI.  Indeed an event to celebrate and remember.  I always like anniversary pieces that was create for an occasion or having it revived for that matter. Did this bag really exist in the 1921? I really would like to know.

I don't know anyone personally who are 90 years old. My grandma died at a age of 87, she was borned in 1925. She was the oldest person that I know thus far. If possible I would like to know someone who is borned in 1900 to tell me what he/she thinks about the bags in 1920s. Of cos, I doubt anyone is alive by now. The next best bet is to get information from the net , biography on persons who lived during that era. I thought it will be so cool if I can get my hands on a certain bag that was passed to me, like a heirloom. I will be proud to announce that this and this are from 1921 era passed down to me by so and so....and he/she liked this b'cos ....and..etc.
Anyway, back to the 1921 Gucci clutch. Personally, it is a fantastic piece. It has a clean cut design, not loud with glitters and or gold hardware. The leather is smooth, however the horsebit logo create a slight dent to the leather. Other than that little kink, the rest is just perfect. I love the cherry 2 tones colour.

2 new bags.

Gucci 269956F8J1G-$1400

Prada BR4763, ~$2400

New arrivals in the shop that caught my eyes. The Gucci is limited edition. I am not sure if it is sold in S'pore, perhaps. I like the gold dust look, especially the heart shape charm with a little bamboo to complete the IT look.
Next is this Prada Sacca. It has 2 zipped side pockets and 3 open compartment inside the bag.  Ok the colour: Pietra. Ok ok, it is like stone colour, very unique, unlike the usual black. The bag is so well made. The shoulder strap has a cushion so it wont hurt your shoulder if you have too much to carry.

I like to think that our bags are unique and prices are good. Recently, I found that that our mini, micro and nano Celine luggages were the best priced in S'pore. :) Better than the online shop. I want to say we are proud as we can bring cost saving to our customers. Everything from are done by ourselves, including taking the amateurish photos and descriptions. Hope we will improve.

It's a good time to buy

It is a good time to stash up some classic bags as the Euro currency is dropping.  Exports from Europe are generally cheaper with our Singapore dollars still. Classic bags are the evergreen, iconic and tell a story. We have some in store, the bamboo Gucci, for example is certainly one that is easily recongiseable. There is even a delicated museum, showcasing the designing and manufacturing process and of cos the different variant of the bags. The craftmen take pride with what they do, turning a plant into part of the signature of the Gucci.

Buying a bag sometimes it's like buying an art. There are some form of art or/and craft that goes into making that unique bag. Some people do appreciate the painstaking hand stitching and hammering by hand( of cos)  ..etc that go into making THE bag. The time and effort taken to make one bag is unthinkable, hence, that price.

Name after the bag

I was explaining the history of the New Jackie Gucci bag to one earnest looking customer who visited our shop. I like history and have an iniqusitive mind since I was a child. I often research on various topics which are of interest either in the library or asking my parents. These things are made easier with Google, Thank God for internet.

Ok, back to the Jackie Bag which is named after Jackie Kennedy Onassis, America's First Lady. I begin to wonder what do I have to do to get a bag named after myself? Here are some tips for your consideration

1) Be Glamourous
2) Befriend a designer
3) Wear the bag everywhere- especially to parties where celebrities will be. Stand next to them and have photos taken.
4) Befriend a Vogue or Fashion editor
5) Create a blog
6) Have a plan B: if all else fails, marry into royality and star in a blockbuster movie- not necessarily in that order.

When will I be famous?

The new Jackie O bag- Gucci

Today the must have in our bag collection is definitely a Gucci. Thanks to Aldo Gucci who was very effective and aggressive in his marketing and left his marked in the Gucci empire for sure. One effective method of marketing is to sponsor celebrities to carry your brand, which Aldo did. The celebrities were wearing Gucci  outfits, including bags of cos,  heavily photograpghed and creating a worldwide buzz.  The company struck gold in the late 60s, when Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Amercia's First Lady of Fashion, favoured their designs.
Gucci had since give a modern twist to the design of the bag, adding the iconic bamboo with an additional shoulder strap to give it another look altogether. However, the structure still remains.

The new Jackie bag-a collectors item

Jackie bag in Catherine prints

We have the new Jackie bag in store. Yes, the bag is name after Jackie Kennedy. What do I have to do to get a bag name after myself????

The Forgotten Gucci

Beige Catherine Tote, Model: 247283, $1530

I was updating our inventory and discovered that we have  a few reasonably priced Gucci that were forgotten. The Catherine tote bag is really understated. Strong fabric, well design that can last for ages and a simple squarish shape that can fit in at least five A4 size files or books. When I see it, it reminded me of one of my teacher from my school days as she always carry the same bag. It takes a baglover who knows her bag, like a wine connoisseur; to realise it is a Gucci. It is causal and no air about it and yet still add a bit of class as it is a Gucci afterall.

Gucci GG Running Belt tote, Model: 24183, S$2750

Gucci Running GG hobo medium, Model: 247185

Next, we have the 2 classics pieces of GG running. Both are also excellent in terms of their construction. I believe these bags will last for a long time so it is certainly good news for those who are rough on their bags or heavy weight users. Both comes with shoulder straps and ease of use, either on the arm or shoulder. The existing strap is in fact long enough to go over your shoulder and you can free your arms to do something else. It is big enough to carry most things you need for a day out shopping or in office.
The design is simply classic with GG monogramme and GG belt. Yes, for sure it will be easily recognisable from far.
Do drop by and take a look and try it yourself. Some bags do need a second or third look in order for us to appreciate it's presence and quality. They aren't your usual Gucci out there.

A quick bag update

It's time of the year again to have a spring cleaning exercise in the shop. I was amazed when I stepped into the shop to see how clean and bright the shop has become. All the clutter were removed. We are now ready to welcome The Summer collection.  We are getting in more Fendi, Gucci and Prada. Just finger cross and hope the shipment arrives in time.

Some sneak preview for smart causal Prada: (This is only a teaser)

To all the baglovers out there, thanks for your support thus far. I hope to be able to bring in more exquisite bag to fulfil your bag cravings.

Here are some Exotic Gucci

What we do when there' s no customers ? - Bag Parade

Gucci, Balenciaga and YSL
When there is no customers in the shop, we will try on some bags and conduct our very own fashion show. There is so much fun, parading as if we are bag models. Here we are:
1) Gucci Bamboo- the iconic bag of the century. Very classic and it's a collectors item. This is the last piece in the shop.
2) The Patchwork from Balenciaga. Crafted in lambskin. Patchwork is less common as compared to the Twiggy series. Chic and classic at the same time. Selling at only $3000 in thedeborahshop.
3) YSL Muse bag in leopard print Ivory colour. If you really want to stand out. Only piece in S'pore. Simply love the calf hair. Leopard is always IN!

I was comtemplating whether to post our pictures in the blog as I remembered my previous entry. Let me know if you like this.
